How it all began...
The First Encounter
Med School • 2018
I met my husband for the first time in 2018, I was still in med school. This was on Instagram, you know how random people just follow you and you follow back, view their profile to see what they look like and then move on with your life. That was it.
On this faithful day, I needed honey for my skincare routine and at that time if you could afford honey, you were rich ooo. I told God that I didn’t have money to buy honey, but I would just buy other things and see if money was left for it. I got to the supermarket, and as I was shopping, I saw Destiny. At that time, I didn’t know his name, but the face was familiar from viewing his IG profile.

As a very shy person that avoids being seen in public because I always look homeless... As soon as I saw him shopping in one section, he saw me too and recognised me. I ran to another section, like God, not today, but he came looking for me.
We introduced ourselves, and can you imagine this man bought everything in my cart, including the almighty honey! He wanted to take me to a restaurant close by just to get to know me more, but in my head, I was like abeg. I thanked him, said I needed to study, exchanged numbers, and we never spoke again because I was playing hard to get.
A Timely Gesture
2019 - 2020
We didn’t speak again until my birthday in 2019. I was depressed and sick from preparing for major exams. Randomly, he found out it was my birthday, wished me well, and asked for my account number. I had spent my feeding money on hospital bills; that simple gesture saved me.
When his birthday approached in 2020, I saved from my monthly allowance to do something for him. Unknown to me, he was going through a big shift in his life too. He said nobody had ever done something like that for him before.
God Listens
Fast Forward • 2022
Fast forward to 2022, I had finished med school and got my first job. One night coming back from work very late, I spoke to my favorite person, God. I asked Him to give me someone, and I don't know why I mentioned Destiny's name.
The next day, a strange number called me. "This is Destiny." I almost melted. Two years of no communication and I had mentioned his name the day before! The first question he asked me was what’s your genotype. A serious man with serious intentions. The rest is history.
